THE SILVER KNIGHT OF THE SLOVENIAN "DVANAJSTIJA"
(ceremonial chalice for wine, water, h = 22 cm, silver, gold
plated (24ct gold))
The Nature Design exhibition took place in 1990 at the
invitation of Teddy Kollek, Izzika Gaon and Pesach Ostashinski, the founders of
one of the world's most famous museums The Israel Museum in Jerusalem. On this
occasion, Kogoj designed the collection of chalices – silver knights, which
were created at the famous Brandimarte silver factory in Florence.
This exclusive collection is designed to meet the needs of
high protocol events and gift-giving ceremonies. The Slovenian
"Dvanajstija" (12-member board) represents the Ancient Slovenian
statehood social organisation, which has existed since the very beginning of
the Slovenian history. The members of the organisation were twelve wise men
elected by the people. The collection consists of twelve different chalices and
each of them represents one of the twelve wise men called "the knights of
the Slovenian Dvanajstija". At the same time, the chalices are reminiscent
of the 12 apostles.
The Silver Knight is one of the collection of 12 knights, made of silver and gilded inside with
24-carat gold!
