CAFFE FLORIAN COLLECTION OF VASES – FEMALE AND MALE FIGURE

(female or male figure vase – h = 40 cm, crystalline, lead-free crystal glass)

The Caffe Florian vase collection was created for Oskar Kogoj’s exhibition in Caffe Florian in St. Mark’s Square in Venice. Mrs. Daniela Gaddo Vedaldi, the former owner of the Caffe, said that the artist is like a volcano – the word came to her mind when she first saw Kogoj, because he seemed to her calm and explosive at the same time. In her opinion, Kogoj’s glass items are magical and very diverse. They incorporate something antique and medieval as well as something very modern with a hint of the future. During the exhibition, Mrs. Vedaldi stated, "It was a real surprise for me to see these vases in Caffe Florian. They looked as if they had always stood there, for centuries, completely merged with the velvet and the mirrors... I left them to speak to me and they told me a lot about Oskar’s love for Venice, for its small squares and St. Mark’s Square, as well as his great love for his country where all these glass wonders are created."
