SUN CUP
Symbol of light, life, strength, energy, happiness...
(ø = 8 cm, h = 16,5 cm, porcelain, gilding (18ct gold), white glaze)
This cup is not merely a utilitarian object; it is crafted with two purposes in mind – for
enjoying a drink, and as an aesthetic, spiritual object in a space. It is rich in SYMBOLISM
and spiritual significance.
The GOLDEN SUN stamped on its seal symbolises light, the golden cosmic egg, and the
golden lingam.
Across the great world civilisations, this motif has been used within astral traditions
of creation to embody the life-giving source – the light and comfort represented by the
celestial body.
The sun gives us light, warmth, life, and creative energy. For this reason, it symbolises freedom,
life.... Yet we also know that you cannot stare directly at the sun. It thus also represents God – it is to be sensed and known rather than looked at. It signifies the centre around which all
things revolve: the cosmic intelligence.
The sun has long been regarded as a source of energy
and vitality. Its influence on human life has always been associated with fortune, health, and
joie de vivre. The essence of the sun bestows quality and energy upon life.
As the ruler of the astrological sign Leo, the sun is a symbol of power, energy, and all that
pertains to life.
The symbolism of the sun is also connected with spiritual development and the maturing
of the human being, whom the sun enlightens with its golden colour. It expresses the
harmony of life between the sky and the earth. In our time, the sun heralds the dawn of
a golden age of humanity – a period in which we will once again recognise our nature as
sun-like, as a divine, golden being.
The TWELVE FLUTES on the cup represent the "Dvanajstija” – the early Slavic, state
forming social order dating back to the very origins of Slovenians. Dvanajstija was a
board composed of 12 wise men chosen by the people. They gathered beneath the linden
tree and sat upon selected stones known as "samci” (males). This chapter of Slovenian
history is summarised by the 12 flutes around the upper part of the cup, which, besides
their symbolism, also provide a firmer grip.
Vertical fluting appears in many cultures; the best-known examples are the columns of
antiquity. The grooves recall the traces of fingers. The palm of our hand is a vast store of
energy, and the fingers are an extension of that energy.
The symbolism continues with the number 3: the cup stands on three feet, which evoke
both the Christian symbolism of the Holy Trinity as well as Triglav, Trimužjat or Tribožjat – the three persons in one God present in these lands long before the Common Era; namely,
before Christianity. In its symbolic meaning this motif expresses strength, solidity, and the
roots of the Slovenian people.
The golden sun stamped on the seal is more than a decorative element – it is an energy
portal and holds a CERTIFICATE OF ENERGY INFLUENCE ON THE HUMAN
ORGANISM, which signifies that contact with it produces subtle yet positive changes
in one’s well-being and energy. The cup becomes a personal companion for rituals,
meditation, or for drinking from – a reminder that light always comes from within.
